3 years!!

Happy Anniversary to Brandon and I. We have been happily married now for 3 wonderful years. We are so blessed. For our anniversary and my birthday we decided to take a road trip to Tennessee. We are both so excited about going. Brandon is very excited about the food he will get to eat. We have done our research and found the restaurants we are eating at beforehand. I will continue this post as we get back from Tennessee.

North Texas State Fair

Yesterday Brandon, Brooke, Nana and I went to the North Texas State Fair. I was so excited about going because I won these tickets off of the radio. I have never won anything from off the radio so we were going no matter what. Well when we drove up it was NOT what I expected. It looked like a grocery store parking lot carnival. Once we got inside though it was better. It was like a little country fair which all of us really enjoyed. Yes it was kinda corny but sometimes corny is fun. We ate a lot and enjoyed the activities they had around the fair grounds. Brooke got to go to her very first petting zoo. She was so cute and got excited seeing the animals. One goat really liked Brooke and she grabbed his ear. Again so cute! They also had a rodeo, which we had to leave because Brooke had not taken a nap all day and she got to be very tired and did not want to sit or be quiet. We had a great time and think we will go back next year.

Beach Party

This is an order I got from a friend. They were for her little girl’s end of the summer school party, the mom loved them, I hope her daughter did as well. Half of these cupcakes were white and half chocolate with homemade butter-cream icing dyed blue. The sand is chopped honey Teddy Grahams. I decorated them with cute little bathing suits using cookie icing. For the eyes, nose and mouth I also used cookie icing, dyed it black and used a toothpick to draw the features on. The inner-tubes are gummy lifesavers and the floats are cut and rolled fruit roll-ups. I hope you enjoy these cute little cupcakes!

before the icing

the bears all dressed for the occasion

Bears at the beach...Do you see the one that got buried in the sand?

Ikinda like being in the routine of things but that is NOT me saying that I do not want my summers!!! I know the last few blogs have not had any pictures so I promise to post some soon.

How about them apples

Well school/work is starting back up and I thought what better way to celebrate than to bring cake bites shaped as apples to my school/work. I am not much of apple person when it comes to decorating but I thought these little apples were perfect for a welcome back to school treat for all my co-workers. I made vanilla and chocolate cake bites along with what I think is a very cute display. I made little chalkboard signs and placed crayon boxes in the back for added school decor. I hope the teachers at my school enjoy them.

To make these apples, just follow the regular cake bite directions except change the following:

Instead of rolling them into balls shape them into apples. The best way is to make a ball then press with your finger on the top and the bottom, and then shape the sides to be more like a apple rather than round.

Another trick I have learned is to add a 1/4 teaspoon of pure vegetable oil to the candy melts or almond bark to make it smoother and easier to dip and not be so heavy on the cake bites.

Also when using lollipop sticks dip them in chocolate or almond bark and then poke in the bottom of the bite before putting them in the freezer to firm up. This will make the stick stay in the cake bite and not end up in your melted chocolate, trust me!!!
