Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

Today our neighborhood had an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Since Brooke hasn’t done this before we practiced last night. I placed eggs around the living room for her to pick up and put in her basket. So today we were prepared, well so I thought! Brooke was taking a nap and I woke her up 20 minutes before the egg hunt so she was still tired and a little grumpy. We got there and she did great. She picked up eggs and put them in her basket, it was so cute. She did however get distracted by watching everyone else pick up eggs or seeing all the other kids. She got 12 eggs. When we got home I let her eat one piece of the chocolate candy, she LOVED it!!!

Fort Worth Zoo

This was Brooke’s first visit to the Fort Worth Zoo. Brandon and I were both looking forward to this zoo visit. The last zoo we went to she was younger and knew that this time would be much more fun and enjoyable for her, not just us. We brought her dog backpack so she could walk but not too far from us. In other words a kid leash. She loved exploring, touching leaves, the fence, looking at the animals and checking out every stroller that went by to see the babies. My favorite was when we got to the wallabies and she thought they were cats. I told her otherwise but she kept meowing at them. Brandon and I thought it was so funny and cute! No matter what we said she was convinced that they were cats, so cats they were, hahaha. The chimpanzees were very active so she also enjoyed watching them. The weather was perfect and we had such a wonderful time.

Just Because

Today I wanted to take a few pictures of Brooke in our studio. I wanted some close up black and whites so that’s what I did! She wasn’t in the mood for pictures but the serious look is cute too! I love this kid! Here is what I got!

Little Finger Carrots

I haven’t posted about our garden in such a long time, but tonight we pulled our little finger carrots. Some of them were the exact size, others were tiny. They are very good though, I can’t wait to make meals with them. I haven’t been much of a raw carrot fan, but these I can eat by themselves, they are that good! Brandon and I also have lettuce, cilantro, bell peppers, squash, zucchini, potatoes, onions, green beans, jalapenos and sugar snap peas in our garden now. I cant wait for all of our produce!

Bearathon 2010

Brandon and I have been training for the half marathon in Waco called the Bearathon. We decided to drive down the day before and spend the night so we could get a longer nights sleep and not have to drive in at the crack of dawn. On our way down to Waco, Brandon and I decided that we had not drank enough water for the day so we stopped at Chicken Express to get some water and bread (carbs). Brandon ordered the Jumbo waters and when we pulled up to the window they handed us buckets. Seriously, they were huge cups with bucket handles. It was quite entertaining, at least to us it was. So Friday night we carb loaded at Carinos for dinner then went back to the hotel to go to bed early and get some much needed rest. We woke up knowing that the weather could be against us, but never did we think it would be so bad. It started to rain and then pour down rain. The wind chill got to be around 35 degrees. It was freezing!!!! We made our way to Baylor’s campus, got checked in, got our time chips and waited and waited and waited. They decided to postpone the race an hour due to the weather and getting everyone checked in. At 9 they announced that the race had been canceled due to lightening in the area. So we got our shirt and went back to the hotel, not running any race. We were both so disappointed but understood it was for our safety. It just stunk because we were there, prepared and ready to go. So even though we didn’t get to race we got huge buckets of water, a shirt and good dinner. We decided that we will do another race to replace this one since we are already in training mode, so we will keep you updated on that!
