Softball

Brandon plays softball with some guys from church and so Brooke and I go out to support! On our way there we grabbed some dinner at Taco Casa. Brooke loves their bean burritos and so I let her eat it on her own on the way to the fields. You can see the results. She did fairly well though, I was impressed, she only needed my assistance a few times. Once we got there we got a picture of Brooke and Daddy before the game began.

WOW

Wow is about all I can say when it comes to what Brooke is doing these days. I bought Brooke a little potty for her thinking I would just get her used to it being in the bathroom and having her sit on it after baths. I moved it to our bathroom and have her sit on it every once in awhile when I go to the bathroom. Sunday night (May 9th) I sat her on her potty and she peed in it. We were so excited for her. Monday (May 10th) she came up to me and said “Mama, pee pee” I took her to her potty and sure enough she pee peed in her potty. I am not sure at this point if it was just a one time thing but I was super excited she related words to her actions and did just that. I will keep you posted on how the peeing in the potty goes. Who knows we might be potty trained by the age of 2, how exciting is that!!!

We also have decided to be strict and only allow Brooke to have her pacifier or what she calls “pappy” at nap time and bed time. She has been pretty good about it in the past but we would give in and let her have it at times. This week we have buckled down though. The part Brandon and I were most concerned with was not having the pacifier int the car. We get in the car and she automatically ask for her “pappy.” I explained to her that she is getting to be a big girl and only gets it at nap time and bed time. Brooke replied “all gone” I said yes. She was ok with this and didn’t cry at all. I didn’t think breaking the pacifier would be this easy. I am so excited. Last night (May 12th)when it was time for Brooke to go to bed, Brandon decided to see if she would go to bed without her pacifier. Guess what, she did and slept the entire night without it. I was shocked but so proud. Our baby girl is getting to be so big!

Potty Training and Breaking the Pacifier has been a lot easier than I thought, at least for now. WAY TO GO BROOKE!

Mother’s Day

This is my second mother’s day and what a blessing it is. I have the best name and that is “mama.” Brooke has been nothing but a joy in my life and I am blessed beyond measure by God to be called her mommy. I wanted a cute outfit for Brooke to wear on Mother’s Day, found one for 42 dollars and thought I can make that, so that is exactly what I did. Making her outfit made it even more special plus it only cost me about 7 dollars. Here are a few pictures of Brooke in her Mother’s Day outfit. There are also 2 of Brooke and I because she was scared of the studio lighting, so I thought I would jump in there with her to comfort her but also in hopes of getting a good shot. Happy Mother’s Day!!!!

Dangerfield State Park

This weekend Brandon, Brooke and I went camping at Dangerfield State Park. I have been wanting to go camping for a few months now and we had this weekend open so camping is what we did. We have not been camping nor used our tent we received as a wedding gift, so I was looking forward to this. Of course we brought our air mattress, so roughing it all the way wasn’t how we went about. We did however cook every meal over the fire and man was it good. Friday night we went simple and had hot dogs. Saturday morning Brandon cooked an amazing breakfast which included: biscuits (in the dutch oven), bacon, maple sausage, hash browns and eggs. For lunch we had grilled cheese and/or turkey sandwiches with chips. Dinner was AWESOME and I will post pictures of what Brandon cooked! We had Rib-Eye steak, skillet potatoes, baked beans (the best beans I have ever had) and cornbread. Our camping trip was not only eating, although, we did eat A LOT. We went fishing, walked, Brooke swung in the swing, splashed in the lake, played soccer, made fires and of course made smores. We had a blast and enjoyed watching Brooke just roam and explore the camp grounds. She loved the pebble rocks that were on our tent pad and occasionally tried to eat them. She slept great in the tent which I was a little worried about, but again God reminded me to “not worry.” We came home Sunday earlier than we had planned due to waking up to thunder then rain then lighting. Although we had to hurry and pack up we made it home in plenty of time to take our time getting ready for church. I love camping, love Brandon’s camp fire cooking, and love watching Brooke explore. Here are just a few of our many pictures!

Play Time

Since it has gotten warmer here, Brandon finished putting together Brooke’s sand and water play table. I decided not to put sand it as of right now and just do water. Brooke loves playing in the water and loves her new water table. She had to have her hat and sunglasses on though before we went outside per her request.
