Meet “Say”

Our friends Jamie and Bubba had their baby today so we went up to the hospital to meet the beautiful Sadie. Brooke calls Sadie, “say” and loved to hold her. She was so excited to see her and meet her. Sadie is absolutely beautiful and we can’t wait to see her grow up and become best friends with Brooke. Congrats Jamie and Buuba, we are so excited for you and are truly thankful to be apart of this experience with you. We love you guys!!!

Purple

This week we practiced learning the color purple. One cute activity Brooke did was making a grape picture. I cut out purple circles and had her place them on the grape picture I drew. She really likes the sticker foam. We also did some coloring and more sticker work with purple. We also learned about the color purple from daddy’s leg. Last week Brandon pulled his hamstring and it turned purple. So here are some pictures of Brooke’s purple activities and Daddy’s purple leg.

Serious about learning!

OUCH!!!!!

Gymnastics – Week 2

This week we had to go to a different class because I didn’t sign Brooke up earlier. This turned out to be ok since the teacher is the same, the only sad part is our friend Cade is in the next class. So we are hoping we can switch soon. This week Brooke stated at the trampoline, she went to the same trampoline as she had last week without me guiding her. In fact she was the only one on the trampoline floor. I was pretty impressed she remembered which one she was at. The teacher rotates between trampoline trying to get the kids to do different things. This week Brooke tried jumping with her hands on her head, tuck jumps and turns. She got the jumping with the hands on head and turning. We will have to work on the tuck jump. When the teacher was done with Brooke she would go on to the next child. This was not ok with Brooke. Brooke got off her trampoline went to the teacher, grabbed her hand and brought her back to her trampoline. Oh dear….is what I was thinking. She did the a few times then I had to have a talk with Brooke. After “the talk” she stayed on her trampoline. Broke still does not enjoy front or back rolls. In fact when she attempts them she lays on the mat and cries. I guess this is something else we are going to have to work on. Even though we had a few bumps today in gymnastics Brooke had a gret time. The trampoline is still her favorite, I am thinking it will be for awhile.

Giant Oreo Cookie Cake

Again this cake is a product of me buying something from Williams Sonoma. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I love this store. I can always find something to buy. So this time I bought their sandwich cookie cake pan set. I made a chocolate cake from scratch with homemade Oreo butter cream icing.I hope you all try this one out, it is very good! I would love to hear how yours turns out!

Cake Ingredients:

1/2 cup coca powder
7 oz of bittersweet chocolate chips
1 and 3/4 Tbs. of unsalted butter cut up into cubes (room temperature)
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 and 3/4 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs (room temperature)
1 and 3/4 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions for cake:
Melt butter and chocolate together in a bowl – I used a microwave to do this!
In separate bowl whisk together the: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
Add in sugar, eggs and vanilla
Add in chocolate mixture until combined.
Since I used the cookie cake pans, this batter was divided into the 2 cake pans

Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes

Oreo Buttercream Icing Ingredients:
1/2 package of crushed Oreo’s
4 and 1/2 cups of confectioners sugar (sifted)
1 and 1/2 sticks of unsalted butter (room temperature)
1/4 cup milk (you may need more, just eye ball this and add more if it is too thick)
1 and 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions for Oreo Buttercream Icing:
Cream butter, add sifted powdered sugar a cup at a time
Add milk, vanilla and crushed oreos
Add any extra milk if needed

Once cake is cooked and cooled place icing between the 2 cakes and you now have a Giant Oreo Cookie Cake.

Blue

This past week our color of the week was BLUE. Brooke has this color down. Her activities included coloring, blue model magic, stickers, flash cards, blue objects and this week I was brave and let her paint. Here are a couple of pictures of Blue week.
