Christmas 2013
I love Christmas and in fact, I put up all my Christmas decorations the week after Halloween! Yes, I even started playing Christmas music in the car too! We were in the holiday spirit and we loved every minute of it! This year I was really looking forward to Christmas morning. Both kids are older and understand more about Christmas and were excited about opening presents! Luke actually opened one a few days early, without us seeing him and was so excited that he got a Tow-Mater cup! He would not put the thing down so I never got the chance to re-wrap it!
This was also the first year in our new house, having a two story and also have people stay the night with us on Christmas eve to share Christmas morning with us. Even though there were lots of “New” things, it was a wonderful morning and one I will not forget. Brandon’s cousin Jason, his wife Jaimie and their son Ethan were staying with us for Christmas and Allison, Brandon’s sister also decided to stay the night too! Before we all went to bed, and before Santa came, we all sat by the fire and read the Night Before Christmas! We also enjoyed some chocolates while we read the book! The kids then were tucked in their beds, while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads. Sorry I just had to!
Brandon was just getting up to start the cooking and I was still laying in bed. All of a sudden, we hear “HO HO HO, Merry Christmas!!!” As I lay in bed, I have a huge smile on my face because I then knew that Santa had come, but my kids were about to come down stairs and see what he had left them. Brooke from the top of the stairs, runs into my room and tells me she heard Santa and that he filled the stockings and left presents! She was so excited!!! We then ran up stairs, got Luke and everyone else came down to join us to open presents! Brooke got a play house Cinderella’s castle from Santa and Luke got a balance bike. They also received numerous other toys that quickly filled the living room floor!
Our cooking was interesting this year because our oven decided to go out on us on Christmas Eve! Yes, we were panicked! Thankfully, we have the most awesome neighbors, and they let us use their oven for all of our cooking! Everything turned out great and the food was of course delicious! I love sitting together during Christmas, all at the same table, just chatting and enjoying great food! We are truly blessed and had a wonderful Christmas!
