IOWA

This past weekend Brandon, Brooke and I went to Iowa to visit Preston and see him preform in his senior recital. We flew into St. Louis and then drove 4 hours into Iowa. Brooke did great on the entire trip. She is such a good traveler, she didn’t even get car sick, we were SOOO happy! On our way up to Iowa City we stopped in Kalona Iowa where the Amish live. We stopped by a couple of bakeries, grocery stores and a cheese factory. The cheese factory was pretty cool. They make 200,000 pounds of cheese a day for Kraft. We bought some of their raw cheese curds that they had made that day. The texture took me a few bites to get over but this cheese was delicious. On Saturday, GG (great grandpa), Uncle Tom, Aunt Gerry, Brandon, Brooke and I went to the Amana Colonies. When we were driving in we saw a sign that said they were having May fest. I was so excited. We got there just in time to see the parade and Brooke got a ton of candy. She had a blast picking it up off the ground. We walked around town which was so fun and interesting. Brooke’s favorite was the petting zoo of the baby chicks, calf and goats. After the Amana colony we headed back for dinner and then to Preston’s recital. Brooke lasted about 6 minutes until she started screaming. She screamed once, just to make noise so I asked her to stop and then she did it again so I decided we should leave. Sunday we met Preston, Rachel and her parents for lunch and then headed back to St. Louis. We had a wonderful trip. Here are some pictures of our trip.

Looks like a fun trip. I find it amazing how natural it felt to have a child attached to my hip when my kids were little. You look comfortable with Brooke, too.
