Gooey Butter Bars
These bars are so yummy and so simple to make. I brought mine to work for my co-workers to enjoy! I think these will become a dessert I begin making for every holiday!
Ingredients:
Crust:
1 box white cake mix (you can also use a yellow cake mix)
1 egg
1 stick melted butter
Filling:
8oz Cream Cheese
2 eggs
1 stick melted butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla
3 and 3/4 cups of confectioners sugar
Preheat oven to 350°. Prepare crust first. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crust ingredient. Transfer to a 13″×9″ un-greased baking pan and spread evenly over the bottom of the pan. Set aside.
Next, prepare the filling. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese with mixer until fluffy. Add the eggs, vanilla, and melted butter, and continue to mix. Next, add the confectioner’s sugar one cup at a time until all sugar is mixed in, scrape sides during the mixing process. Pour filling over the crust, and spread evenly with a spatula.
Bake gooey butter bars for 40-45 minutes until it is browned, the center will jiggle when the pan is shaken. Cool for 30 minutes or longer. (Optional) Sprinkle with additional confectioner’s sugar and serve.
