1st Day of Kindergarten

Today my little girl would start kindergarten and I had such mixed emotions. I was so excited her for because I knew she would love school, make new friends and just enjoy learning. On the other hand, I was sad because I knew from 7:30am to 3pm, she would be in the care of someone other than myself and would not be with me during the day. These past 5 years I have truly treasured spending so much time with my Brooke. She is such a joy to me and my time with her is so very special. I am excited to see her learn, grow and experience new things and I will be looking forward to every day at 3pm to pick up my sweet girl and hug and kiss her!

I wanted this day to be special and one she would remember, so I decorated the table, Brandon made funfetti pancakes and we wrote her a letter for her first day. I almost cried reading it to her but I made it through it! Now to drop her off without crying….After breakfast we took a few pictures and then went up to the school. We all went in to drop her off and she was so excited. Only a smile from ear to ear was on her face. I walked her in, got her situated, gave her a hug and kiss and said goodbye and have fun. There were no tears from her or I and I think that’s because she was excited to be there and that she saw a couple of her friends there already. This made it much easier on me. Thankfully I didn’t see any other moms cry because I think that would have triggered my tears!

When we got home, Luke kept asking me, “Where my Brooke go?” He was so sad and then started crying, asking for Brooke. He kept asking me “Go pick up Brooke, Now?” It then made me cry because he missed his sister just as much I was missing her and it wasn’t even 10 am yet. Well we made it through the day and when I picked her up, she was so excited to see us! She came in the car gave us big hugs and kisses and told us all about her day. She said her favorite part of the day was going to the gym. I asked her what she did in the gym and she said, “oh, we just sat there.” They got rules that day but to her going to the gym was the best thing! I love that she had a great first day and can’t wait to hear all the stories she tells me from her kindergarten experiences!
