Chocolate Silk Brownie Trifle

I attended my moms flower shops Christmas party and her business partner made this amazing dessert. Brandon loved it as well so I knew I had to make it again for him. I did tweak her recipe a little but we are very thankful that she introduced us to the wonderful product called “Dream Whip.” If you have never tasted this, you MUST!! OK so What is in this marvelous dessert is:

Ingredients: Brownie, Dream Whip, 2 containers of Cool Whip and Chocolate shavings

Directions:

1. I bought a brownie mix (i know shame on me for not making them from scratch), Made the brownie following the directions on the box, let them cool and put half of the brownie on the bottom of my bowl

2. Make the dream whip again according to the box and place half of the mixture on top of the brownie

3. one container of cool whip on top of the dream whip mixture

4. Repeat steps 1-3

5. Shave a chocolate bar on top for fun and fancy decoration!

Chocolate Pretzel Sticks

For Christmas I made a couple of desserts. This one is so simple, anyone can do it!

Ingredients: Pretzel Sticks, Chocolate melts (i used red and green), and sprinkles

Directions: Melt the chocolate, dip pretzel in chocolate, twirl around to get all the sides covered then place on cookie sheet with parchment paper and then add the sprinkles of your choice. I did put mine in the freezer for a few minutes to have the chocolate set a little faster.

You can change the colors up and make these for any holiday or event. They were very yummy, and a cute centerpiece when placed in a Christmas pot on the table.

Merry Christmas

This is Brooke’s 2nd Christmas and we are so excited. She is interested in opening her presents and understands more and more. We got her lots of toys and her favorite gift of all was a package of pacifiers. Go figure, you spend all this money on toys and the best gift is a 4 dollar pacifiers. Oh well, she was excited and that is all that matters.

After opening presents, Brooke played with her new toys while Brandon and I got lunch together. I made some appetizers so I set those all out and then started on the side dishes. Our families came over around 11 and then everyone else came over around 1pm for lunch. Brandon made a turkey which was so good, I think the best one yet. Everything turned out well and was very delicious. Brooke also enjoyed her Christmas lunch.

After lunch we played some games that Brandon got me for Christmas while my mom and Grandpa took naps. As a family we all went to the movies like we normally do. I had to leave early though with Brooke because she was wanting to talk and play. If the movie was later we had been fine because she would have fallen asleep, but I knew this going in and decided to take the chance. It didn’t work out but oh well maybe next year we will have better luck with the movie.

All in all we had a great Christmas and are truly blessed by the Lord to have such a wonderful family and great friends.

Christmas Eve

This Christmas eve started with Brandon and I getting some food ready for the Christmas day. Brandon, Brooke and I went to the 5 o’clock service at our church. Grandpa, Grandma, Allison and Preston also came. I decided to try and keep Brooke with me during the service but that only lasted for about 15 minutes. She likes to talk and I felt like it was distracting people around us. So she went back to her Sunday school class which she loves.

After church we headed to my moms house for our traditional gathering for Christmas eve. It was exciting because the weather felt like winter. It was even snowing! We had a great time with our family and friends at my moms house and made it home safe. Before Brooke went to Bed, we sat by the Christmas tree and Brandon read the Christmas story out of the bible. Brooke went to bed and Brandon and I are looking forward to waking up in the morning to enjoy Christmas morning with Brooke.

Aunt and Uncle Time

Today after work I went over to my in laws house and picked up Aunt Allison and Uncle Preston. Brooke and I took them to eat lunch at Twisted Root and then went to the Arboretum. I was hoping that the Arboretum would be decorated beautifully with Christmas decor but I was very disappointed. There wasn’t hardly any decorations and the flowers are dead right now so the trip wasn’t what I had planned.Brooke took a little while to warm up to Preston, but once she warmed up to him the were instant buddies. It is so neat to see your family bond with your child, it is simple things that puts you in awe! We had a great time spending time together. Preston and Allison enjoyed playing with Brooke and all of them enjoyed looking at the fish (The fish saved our trip). Preston put his finger in the water and all the fish came up to it so Brooke got so excited. We had such a wonderful time with Aunt Allison and Uncle Preston. It is so nice to have them home and spend quality time with them.
